Principal Officer, Water Management at Water Resources Commission Of Ghana

Job Overview

The Water Resources Commission of Ghana invites applications from qualified Ghanaians to fill a vacant Principal Officer position in Water Management at the Head Office and basin offices.

Job Purpose

To provide technical and operational support for the effective and efficient performance of the water management functions of the commission.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides inputs for the formulation of policies
• Supervises the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programmes and activities of the Directorate
• Supervises the development, implementation, and review of plans and guidelines for the utilization, conservation, development, and management of water resources
• Supervises the development and update of a database on water resources
• Provides inputs for the development of research proposals
• Supervises the conduct of aquatic ecological surveys
• Supervises the development and implementation of the commission's laboratory
• Supervises the preparation of annual work plans and budget of the Directorate
• Supervises the preparation of annual and other periodic reports of the Directorate
• Supervises and appraises the performance of subordinate staff

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Master's Degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Chemistry, or any other related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution
• Minimum of 6 years of post-Bachelor's Degree relevant work experience in a reputable organisation
• Membership of a relevant and recognized professional body (advantageous)
