Principal at Bagabaga College of Education

Position Overview

Applications are invited for the position of Principal at Bagabaga College of Education. The Principal serves as the chief officer responsible for academics, administration, and discipline, and is accountable to the Governing Council of the College.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as chief of academics, administration, and disciplinary matters
• Ensure implementation of all decisions made by the Governing Council
• Exercise authority over all staff and students in accordance with the Unified Statutes of Colleges of Education
• Meet challenges posed by the college's transition to tertiary status
• Assign staff duties in accordance with the Unified Statutes of Colleges of Education
• Supervise discipline and performance of staff and students
• Prepare annual estimates of income and expenditure for Council consideration
• Provide regular reports to Council, including committee reports and other relevant documentation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of Principal Tutor grade in a College of Education or equivalent (minimum senior lecturer level from a recognized university)
• Research postgraduate degree, preferably a terminal degree
• Professional teaching qualification or minimum Diploma in Education or related field
• Demonstrated excellence as a master teacher and scholar in teaching and learning
• Extensive administrative experience
• Strong understanding of challenges facing colleges of education and tertiary education in Ghana
• Excellent character and high personal integrity
