Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Principal, Accra City Campus. The Accra City Campus is a semi-autonomous campus of the University of Ghana that expands the reach of the institution by offering a wide range of programmes in the Central Business District of Accra.

About the Role

Reporting To: Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs

The Principal serves as the academic and administrative head of the Accra City Campus and is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Campus in accordance with policies determined by the Council and Academic Board of the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and academic direction and leadership for the Campus
• Maintain and promote the efficiency and good order of the Campus in accordance with the University Act, Statutes, and policies prescribed by the Council and Academic Board
• Ensure that approved programmes and functions of the Campus are properly executed
• Oversee general administration of the Campus, including management of human, financial, and material resources within the framework of University policy

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

• Hold at least the rank of Associate Professor, or possess equivalent qualifications from industry and be eligible for appointment as Associate Professor
• Demonstrate capability in providing academic leadership, particularly in teaching, research, and extension activities in relevant disciplines
• Provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership experience
• Demonstrate capacity to promote a collegial working environment
