Miro Forestry Ghana Limited is a sustainable forestry plantation developer and manufacturer of timber products. The company operates offices in Drobonso, Sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with plantations near Agogo and Mampong.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is critical to ensuring our operations meet the highest international health and safety standards while supporting our commitment to sustainable forestry practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop an occupational health & safety management plan (OHSMP)
• Actively work towards the company's achievement of FSC certification
• Implement and maintain health and safety management systems
• Manage incident, accident, and near-miss reporting and investigation
• Oversee road safety management initiatives
• Ensure full compliance with International Labour Organisation (ILO) guidelines
• Engage regularly with relevant stakeholders and conduct employee training on OHS issues
• Provide management and leadership in health and safety matters

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, forestry management, safety management, or a related field (Master's degree is advantageous)
• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification work experience in a similar role within the forestry or related industry

Required Competencies and Personal Qualities

• Dynamic and responsible professional with strong knowledge of international health and safety standards
• Self-motivated and team-oriented, able to work independently
• Committed to responsible forest stewardship
• Demonstrated knowledge of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards
• Familiarity with IFC Guidance Notes and Performance Standards
• Understanding of best OHS management practices and relevant enactments
• Excellent communication skills in English
