Mechanical Technician at TAQA Ghana

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our team in Accra, Ghana. You will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment used in the generation of steam and electricity while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures; demonstrate safety awareness by reporting observations and near misses
• Inspect and repair valves (all pressures), compressors, fans, blowers, heat exchangers, pumps, piping, turbines, gearboxes, conveyor equipment, and mobile equipment
• Perform cutting and semi-skilled welding as required
• Use dial indicators and precision measuring devices for accurate assessments
• Apply rigging and lifting principles when handling equipment
• Order, track, and maintain parts inventory using MAXIMO CMMS
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment including cleaning, adjusting, and tightening
• Write, submit, and clear corrective work orders for approval
• Clean, replace, oil, and lubricate mechanical equipment as required
• Assemble and test basic and complex power plant mechanical equipment using assembly drawings
• Prepare appropriate documentation including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Work Orders for planned and unplanned maintenance
• Install new mechanical equipment as needed
• Disassemble mechanical equipment using cranes, hoists, hand tools, and power tools
• Examine used parts and utilize micrometers, rules, calipers, and measuring appliances to ascertain dimensional changes
• Monitor mechanical equipment during operation and identify any complications

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Semi-skilled cutting and welding ability
• Proficiency with dial indicators and precision measuring devices
• Knowledge of rigging and lifting principles
• Experience with MAXIMO CMMS
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance
