The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) is a pan-African economic policy institute supporting Africa's long-term growth through transformation. We produce research, offer policy advice, and connect key stakeholders so that African countries are better positioned for smart, inclusive, and sustainable development. Based in Ghana, we offer African-led solutions to some of Africa's most critical development issues.
Role Overview
Working with the Youth Employment and Skills (YES) team, the interpreter will serve as a liaison between ACET staff and French-speaking partner institutions. You will interpret both English and French during meetings and translate written communications. The role focuses primarily on the YES Pan-African Coalition for Transformation (PACT) project, which brings together key stakeholders for policy engagement on youth employment and skills issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide interpretation during YES-PACT meetings as needed (typically one-hour sessions, scheduled as required)
- Attend and interpret at the monthly YES-PACT secretariat meeting (1.5 hours per session)
- Translate written communications between ACET and YES PACT partners, including emails, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and presentations
- Serve as a liaison to facilitate effective communication between English and French-speaking stakeholders
Position Details
- Location: Accra, Ghana
- Contract Duration: 1 year
- Employment Type: Consultant (paid hourly for hours worked)
- Flexibility Required: Must be available on short notice (minimum 24 hours notice)
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in both English and French (verbal and written)
- Professional interpretation and translation experience
- Flexibility and ability to respond to scheduling changes with minimal notice
- Strong communication and liaison skills
