Position Summary
The Institutional Data Engineer will report to the Director of Institutional Research & Planning Office and play a key role in identifying and developing data sources that enable evidence-based decision-making for Senior Management of the University of Ghana. Working alongside Business Intelligence Analysts, this position will identify common data constructs and metrics to create curated datasets that are easily consumable for analysis and aligned to reporting and analytical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Institutional Research and the IRPO analytic team to identify common metrics for internal and external data requests, gather requirements for datasets, and translate those requirements into actionable projects
- Build, manage, and clean large datasets, creating curated, focused, fit-for-purpose datasets that optimize efficiency in IRPO reporting and analysis
- Inform IRPO analysts on available datasets, including field and variable definitions, and provide guidance on best practices
- Develop ETL pipelines to facilitate data integration and transformation
- Closely collaborate with the Director of Institutional Research and IRPO analysts to update and refine datasets on an annual or as-needed basis as specifications evolve
- Develop frameworks for data acquisitions and data management policies, or extend existing policies
- Prepare data and tabulate metrics to meet internal and external reporting requirements from accreditors, state and federal governments, and other agencies and organizations
- Develop and standardize data reporting procedures and streamline data reporting activities
