Position Overview

The Finance Officer serves as the Chief Accounting Officer of the University College and reports to the President and Council. This full-time role is responsible for managing all financial operations and ensuring the university's fiscal health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer the finances of the University College
• Maintain proper books of accounts and records of assets and liabilities in the manner and form required by Council
• Prepare statements of accounts and estimates for Council consideration
• Develop Business Plans and Budgets for the University
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and reliability of financial records and information for decision-making
• Promote fund mobilization and raise finance for GBUC at minimal cost of capital
• Ensure prudent investment of surplus funds in accordance with the University's investment policy
• Manage financial risk efficiently
• Provide assistance to Internal and External Auditors in their duties
• Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of accounting, budgeting, and revenue generation personnel
• Identify and eliminate waste in financial systems
• Direct and participate in the preparation of operating and capital budgets at Central Administration level
• Provide technical assistance in budgeting and budget analysis at School and Departmental levels
• Initiate and supervise the installation of new and improved financial systems and procedures
• Maintain close liaison with public and private financial agencies
