Electrical Engineer at University of Ghana

Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Electrical Engineer within the Physical Development, Planning and Transport Division, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD).

This role involves providing technical leadership in the planning, development, and maintenance of electrical systems that support campus operations, sustainability, and safety. The Electrical Engineer will oversee, design, implement, and maintain electrical infrastructure throughout the University.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Deputy Director, Physical Development, Planning and Transport, PDMSD

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee electrical system designs for new construction, renovations, and infrastructure projects in compliance with national, international, and emerging standards
• Oversee regular maintenance and repair of electrical systems, power distribution networks, and backup systems to prevent operational disruptions
• Develop energy efficiency strategies and integrate renewable energy solutions and smart energy-saving technologies to reduce operational costs
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes, university policies, and Ghanaian regulatory standards
• Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall physical development plans
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for all electrical systems and projects
