About the Role
The Parliamentary Service of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Director of Research.
Job Summary
The Director of Research will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategy, policies, procedures, and guidelines for the management of research department operations. This role ensures the provision of high-quality research services to support Parliament and the Parliamentary Service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Research shall provide support to the Clerk and Management of the Service through the Coordinating Director (Research, Data Management and Library) by performing the following duties:
- Produce reliable and accurate data to support the information needs of Parliament and the Parliamentary Service
- Supervise the preparation of briefs, written reports, and papers on Parliamentary and Constitutional developments, and provide background information on topical and policy issues to MPs and committees
- Design and conduct appropriate research and surveys on national issues, and disseminate reports to meet the needs of MPs and committees
- Plan and organize activities for the provision of research services to MPs, committees, and the Parliamentary Service
- Lead a research team to respond to requests for information by MPs and Parliamentary committees
- Lead the process of developing and implementing the department's strategic plan to be incorporated into the institution's strategic plan
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Clerk to Parliament
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A first degree in any social science or relevant discipline from a recognized university
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience
- Master's degree
