Position Overview

The Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) invites applications from qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Director of Nursing Services. This role involves providing leadership and direction to nursing and midwifery staff, ensuring high standards of practice, and offering technical advice on nursing and midwifery matters. The Director will oversee management of professional practice, monitor activities, contribute to research, and develop and implement policies within the hospital.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Set and evaluate nursing and midwifery practice standards in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Promote and monitor quality assurance systems
• Advise on manpower needs and ensure equitable distribution of personnel
• Monitor and evaluate performance, providing leadership and mentorship
• Develop and implement policies

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent leadership skills and ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams
• Broad knowledge and understanding of health policies, operating procedures, and health sector quality assurance issues
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team player skills
• Ability to work independently, manage workload under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
• Strong problem-solving, advocacy, and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in report writing and good computer literacy
• Self-discipline, emotional stability, conflict management skills, and a methodological approach to work
• Goal-oriented and honest disposition
