Director of Internal Audit at University of Professional Studies (UPSA)

About the Position

The Governing Council of the University of Professional Studies, Accra invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director of Internal Audit.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Internal Audit shall be responsible for the integrity of all financial transactions within the University and shall:

• Ensure the establishment and operation of an efficient and effective financial control system
• Pre-audit all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with laid-down internal control systems and other statutory requirements
• Conduct periodic examination of the accounts of the University, including the self-accounting units
• Monitor and ensure that all expenditure incurred has been authorised and is within budgetary provisions
• Conduct periodic management audits and submit reports to the Vice-Chancellor
• Liaise with External Auditors and ensure that appropriate action is taken on audit reports and findings
• Submit reports in line with the requirements of the Audit Report Implementation Committee (ARIC)

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree minimum in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum 15 years of post-professional qualification work experience
• Minimum 6 years at the level of Deputy Director or higher in a university or analogous institution, or in a recognised and reputable practicing firm, industry, commerce, or private sector
• In-depth grasp and demonstrated application of auditing systems, processes, and procedures
• High level of integrity and ability to be above reproach
