Director of Finance at University of Ghana

Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director of Finance, effective January 1, 2025.

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial strategy and management of the University's finances. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Director shall maintain the integrity and consolidate on-going financial reforms anchored on fiscal discipline within the framework of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), the Public Procurement Act, 2016 (Act 914) as amended, the Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896) as amended, various Financial Regulations and Professional Standards such as International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the mandate of the Finance Directorate under the direction of the Vice-Chancellor
• Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, policies and standards relating to the financial administration of the University
• Initiate, update and maintain proper accounting systems and procedures for the University as approved by Council
• Ensure the integrity of the University's financial systems
• Prepare the annual operating budget of the University for Council approval
• Receive monies due to the University and authorize payments on behalf of the University
• Prepare the Consolidated Financial Statements of the University
• Safeguard and ensure effective utilization of the University's assets
• Perform any other functions assigned by the Council or Vice-Chancellor
