About the Organization
The Ghana Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is the leading Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) organization mandated to carry out research for national development. Established in October 1968 and re-established in its present form by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Act, 1996 (Act 521), the CSIR is required to promote, encourage, and regulate research and the application of science and technology for national development.
Under its Governing Act, the CSIR is mandated to encourage and promote the commercialization of research results. From its Head Office in Accra, the CSIR oversees and coordinates the activities of thirteen research institutes and over twenty research centers spread across the country.
Position Overview
The Deputy Director-General (Research and Development) will report directly to the Director-General of the CSIR and oversee the development and execution of research and development activities across the organization's institutes, as well as the Council's programmes and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and execution of Research and Development activities of the thirteen Institutes and Council programmes and projects
- Assist the Director-General in setting the research priorities of the Council in line with Government policy
- Ensure quality assurance, monitoring, and evaluation of research outputs from the Institutes to ensure results are reliable, relevant, and customer-driven
- Mobilize Research and Development funds for the execution of the Council's internal activities
