Position Overview

This vacancy presents an opportunity to join a leading organization in a pivotal leadership role. The Director of CSIR Oil Palm Research Institute will serve as the Head of the Institute and report directly to the Director-General.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day administration and operations of the institute
• Establish effective linkages with relevant institutions and agencies within and outside CSIR
• Coordinate prioritized research initiatives under the broad guidance of the Director-General
• Promote technology transfer to industry and agricultural business, and facilitate commercialization of research outputs
• Coordinate research funding initiatives and determine research priorities
• Formulate and implement science and technology plans
• Manage and develop the institute's human resource base

Required Qualifications

• PhD degree or equivalent qualification in Agricultural, Biological, Physical Sciences, or related discipline from a recognized university or institute
• Not less than 12 years of experience in research and development (R&D), including at least 5 years in a successful management position
• Distinguished research contribution evidenced by scientific publications, with research output equivalent to that of a Principal Research Scientist or Associate Professor
• Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate activities within a research institute for national development
• Good knowledge of relevant sector agencies and ability to interact with senior management across institutions
• Proven ability to inspire and motivate research staff
