## Title: College Internal Auditor

About the Role

The College Internal Auditor is the Chief Auditing Officer and Head of the Internal Audit unit. This position reports directly to the Principal and is responsible for improving the college's operations by ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal audit system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure that expenditures are fully authorised and within budgetary provisions
  • Conduct periodic internal audits of the college and submit reports to the audit committee through the Principal
  • Ensure a systematic and disciplined approach is used to evaluate and improve risk management, control, and governance processes
  • Ensure that reliable records form the basis for the preparation of appropriate financial and other data for decision-making
  • Alert the Principal and Finance Officer to deficiencies such as duplicated functions, waste, and inefficiencies, offering recommendations for remedies where necessary
  • Assess the extent to which assets are accounted for and safeguarded against losses
  • Perform any other functions assigned by the Principal

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • First degree in Accounting, Finance, or comparable qualification
  • Professional qualification in a relevant field
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field from a recognised institution of higher learning
  • Current membership in a recognised accountancy professional body
  • Current membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors in good standing
  • Minimum experience as a Deputy Internal Auditor in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation
