About the Institution
St. Ambrose College of Education is located in Dormaa Akwamu in the Bono Region of Ghana. As a Public College of Education, it is affiliated with the University of Cape Coast.
Position Overview
The Finance Officer serves as the Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Advisor to the Principal of the college. The Finance Officer is responsible to the Principal for the financial administration of the college.
Key Responsibilities
- Collection of all legitimate revenue due to the college
- Sourcing funds for the college
- Implementation of policies relating to accounting and financial control and the financial health of the college
- Proper record keeping of all college property, assets, stocks, and valuables, and all funds in a register
- Exercising control over expenditure in line with the college's objectives and budgets
- Preparation of the annual budget of the college for presentation to the appropriate governing body for approval and implementation
- Ensuring that financial statements of the college are drawn up in accordance with the law establishing the colleges, the statutes, applicable accounting standards, all other regulations approved by the college, and all relevant national laws
- Liaising with appointed external auditors to ensure the college's financial statements are audited
- Liaising with ministries, departments, and agencies regarding financial matters affecting the college
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a good first degree and a master's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Professional qualification in Accounting or Finance
