Position Overview

Cocoa Abrabopa Association is seeking a Child Development Officer to join our team in Ho, Ghana. This role is critical to our mission of supporting child welfare and sustainable cocoa farming practices within our operational communities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct household surveys and community profile surveys with selected households in assigned operational areas
• Conduct traceability checks at the community level
• Undertake distribution of shade trees to farmers
• Monitor living income plan beneficiaries
• Conduct gender and grievance awareness raising activities, and assess and address community concerns
• Monitor farm survival rates of shade trees
• Carry out unannounced farm visits to identify possible cases of child labor
• Follow up with questionnaires and needs assessments when child labor is identified
• Identify and deploy remediation activities for the benefit of affected children and their families
• Monitor all remediation activities and households classified as high-risk for child labor
• Organize and implement awareness raising initiatives among members, households, communities, and collaborating partners
• Report activities through a mobile app
• Prepare work plans and schedules to ensure all households are visited according to agreed timelines
• Work closely with Technical Coordinators and Regional Managers employed by Cocoa Abrabopa Association
• Ensure tools, equipment, and safety wear are used appropriately according to manufacturer specifications and maintain protocols for repairs and maintenance
• Perform any other duties or assignments as directed by your supervisor

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Agriculture (with specialization in Crop, Agronomy, Agroforestry, or Extension), or Development Studies from a recognized institution accredited by the national accreditation board
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role
• Working experience with farmers in the field
• At least one year of experience in field data collection
