About the Organization
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy (CEGENSA) have established a collaborative project on the Africa-based Gender Technical Platform for Gender Responsive Malaria Advocacy and Policy.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will work with project coordinators to document and analyze the project setup process and generate key evidence and learning insights at the Gender-Malaria intersection. This role supports the project team in conducting gender analyses of national malaria strategic plans and reviewing selected malaria-endemic countries across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Document and analyze the entire project setup process and generate evidence-based learning insights
- Conduct gender analyses of national malaria strategic plans
- Review malaria programming and policies in selected endemic countries
- Support gender integration technical advisory services for malaria programming and policy
- Assist in managing the Global Malaria and Gender Community of Practice
- Work closely with project coordinators on gender-transformative approaches in malaria advocacy and policy frameworks
- Produce peer-reviewed research articles for publication
Required Qualifications
- PhD awarded within the last five years in a gender and/or health-related field of study
- Demonstrated ability to produce peer-reviewed research articles in high-ranking journals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research team
- Previous work on malaria (advantageous)
