The Council of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Position Overview

The Vice-Chancellor, under the direction of the University Council, serves as the Academic and Administrative Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and is responsible to the University Council for maintaining and promoting good order and efficiency of the institution. Additional functions are prescribed by the statutes of the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership for the University
• Serve as Chief Disciplinary Officer
• Maintain and promote good order and efficiency across the institution
• Marshal resources needed to carry out the University's mission and vision
• Foster and promote good internal and external relations
• Effectively project the image of the University internally and externally
• Establish rapport between industry and the University

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Professor rank with international scholarly acclaim
• Individual of stature and integrity with exemplary leadership skills
• Proven capacity to manage a University
• Visionary and business-oriented mindset
• Demonstrated ability to provide strong visionary leadership and innovation
• Ability to serve a full 4-year term before attaining the compulsory retiring age of 60

Tenure

• Initial term: 4 years
• Possible renewal: up to 3 additional years upon satisfactory performance
