Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment as a Teacher/Senior Teacher (Mathematics) in the University Basic School.

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality education to students while taking on additional responsibilities that support and enhance the overall academic and operational functions of the school. This role includes mentoring junior teachers, contributing to curriculum development, and leading initiatives to improve educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to state and school curriculum standards
• Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and needs
• Integrate technology and interactive activities to enhance learning
• Maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning
• Establish and enforce rules for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order
• Address and resolve disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner
• Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents
• Use assessment data to modify teaching strategies and improve student learning outcomes
• Identify and support students with special needs, collaborating with special education staff as necessary
• Offer extra help and tutoring for students requiring additional support
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that respects diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Mentor junior teachers and contribute to professional development within the school
