About Our Africa Operations

Newmont's Africa Operations manages two gold mining operations in Ghana:

• Ahafo Mine located in the Brong-Ahafo region
• Akyem Mine located in the Eastern region

Africa Operations also conducts near-mine exploration and development programs in Ghana to annually replace gold reserves, along with early-stage exploration programs in Ethiopia and Morocco.

Community Development

Newmont's Akyem and Ahafo mines have made significant sustainable community development investments in host communities. Each mine contributes US$1 per ounce of gold sold and 1% of net pre-tax annual profit into its community development fund.
