Position Overview

University of Media Arts and Communication (UniMAC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Rector, Institute of Languages (IL).

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Vice-Chancellor, UniMAC

Role Summary

The Rector shall serve as the administrative and academic head of the Institute of Languages, providing strategic leadership and ensuring the institute operates efficiently in accordance with university policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Institute of Languages and maintain the efficiency and good order of the institute in accordance with policies prescribed by the Act, statutes, and directives from the University Council, Academic Board, Executive Management Board, and Institute Board
• Exercise general authority over students in the institute
• Exercise general administrative supervision over staff in the institute
• Coordinate and implement academic programmes for the institute
• Advise the Institute Board and University Council through the Vice-Chancellor on all matters relating to institute management
• Oversee the preparation of annual income and expenditure estimates and manage the institute's budget and resources
• Ensure implementation of decisions made by the University Council
• Organize and conduct the academic, financial, and administrative business of the institute in accordance with statutes and decisions of the University Council, Executive Management Board, and Academic Board
• Advise the University Council and University Management Board on matters affecting the institute
