Job description
Role Summary
The Finance Operations Officer will provide financial management services to the organisation, ensuring financial targets are achieved and managing the seamless delivery of finance operations. This includes accounting, budgeting, internal and statutory reporting, elements of tax and cost management.
The role holder will implement and drive strong financial and controls discipline to ensure the organisation is well managed and its funding is in line with relevant regulations. You will coordinate the planning cycle, working closely to ensure adequate financial information is made available to the Ministry of Finance, Parliament, and relevant funding agencies. You must comply strictly with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921) related to funding support for capital expenditure and/or working capital.
Key Accountabilities
Management Information & Reporting
- Maintain financial records of the organisation ensuring fiscal, accounting, and best standard practices are met
- Prepare and manage periodic financial reporting, forecasting, and variance explanations
- Anticipate potential sources of impact on business targets and proactively define response and action plans in coordination with the Director of Finance and other Directors
Financial Control, Management and Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all financial, regulatory, and accounting requirements including reporting
- Review all balances and ensure that adequate reconciliations are completed and available
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls in liaison with Management and the internal audit unit
- Supervise and ensure the generation of annual budgets
