Position Overview

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, result-driven, competent, and dynamic professionals to fill the vacant position of Security Officer located in Ho, Ghana.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security on Agency premises
• Inspect loads of incoming and outgoing vehicles
• Prevent unauthorized persons from accessing the premises
• Protect property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
• Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
• Apprehend criminals and evict violators
• Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
• Report in detail any suspicious incidents
• Conduct random or regular patrols of building and perimeter
• Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
• Monitor alarm systems and video cameras; operate detecting and emergency equipment
• Perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant position for at least three (3) years
• Senior High School Certificate or Diploma minimum
• Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
• Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures and protocols
• Strong surveillance skills and attention to detail
• Good understanding of guidelines for area security and public safety
• Experience with report writing
• Outstanding surveillance and observation skills
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Integrity and professionalism
