Wesley College of Education is a public teacher educational institution located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The college is affiliated with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi under the new Teacher Education Reform.
Position Summary
The Finance Officer serves as the Chief Accounting Officer of the college and Chief Financial Advisor to the Principal. This role carries general responsibility for the administration of the college's financial affairs to ensure its financial health and stability. The Finance Officer exercises direct superintendence over all accounting officers.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect all legitimate revenue due to the college
- Exercise control over expenditure in line with the college's objectives and budgets
- Prepare the annual budget of the college for presentation to appropriate governing bodies for approval and implementation
- Ensure that financial statements of the college are drawn up in accordance with the law establishing the colleges, statutes, applicable accounting standards, and all other regulations approved by the college and relevant national laws
- Liaise with appointed external auditors to ensure the college's financial statements are audited
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Chartered Accountant certification
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Deputy Finance Officer in a college of education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization
