Director, Internal Audit Directorate at University of Ghana

Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director, Internal Audit Directorate. This role reports to the Vice-Chancellor and is responsible for the internal audit of the University's accounts and financial transactions.

Reporting Structure

The Director of Internal Audit reports administratively to the Vice-Chancellor and functionally to the Audit Committee of the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and operate an efficient and effective financial control system
• Vet all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with internal control systems and statutory requirements
• Conduct periodic examination of the University's accounts, including limited financial and operational audits
• Monitor and ensure that all expenditures are authorized and within budgetary provisions
• Conduct management audits and submit reports as required
• Liaise with External Auditors and ensure appropriate action is taken on reported audit findings
• Ensure the University's compliance with the Internal Audit Agency Act 2003 (Act 658) and relevant University policies and Acts
• Discharge other assignments as directed by the Vice-Chancellor

Required Qualifications

• A good first degree in a relevant discipline
• A master's degree in a relevant discipline
• Membership of a professional Accounting or Auditing body
• Experience in public accounting and/or auditing
