Deputy Director of Public Engagement at Parliamentary Service of Ghana

About the Role

The Parliamentary Service of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill a vacancy in the post of Deputy Director of Public Engagement (Citizens Bureau).

The Deputy Director of Public Engagement shall provide support to the Clerk to Parliament and management of the service in facilitating dialogue between Parliament and external stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate engagements between Parliament and civil society organisations (CSOs) and think tanks on critical issues of national importance, by arranging meetings between the Speaker of Parliament, Members of Parliament, the Clerk to Parliament, and parliamentary committees with CSOs and think tanks
• Establish and maintain a database of CSOs and think tanks operating in Ghana, classifying them according to their respective areas of work and aligning them with the various committee clusters of Parliament
• Facilitate information sharing between Parliament and CSOs/think tanks, including sharing of approved parliamentary information with CSOs upon request and disseminating research findings from CSOs and think tanks to MPs and committees to facilitate their work and respond to enquiries
• Facilitate capacity-building initiatives in the form of workshops and seminars for CSOs on the workings of Parliament and collaborative events between Parliament and civil society organisations
• Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of open government partnership and open parliament initiatives
• Provide technical support to the open government partnership caucus in Parliament and the open parliament steering committee, and facilitate implementation, monitoring, and evaluation activities
