Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Deputy Director, Finance Directorate. This is a full-time role reporting to the Director of Finance.

Position Summary

The Deputy Director is part of the management team in the Finance Directorate, which is responsible for the financial strategy and management of the University's finances and for maintaining the integrity of the institution's financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and introduce robust financial accounting policies
• Implement effective and efficient internal controls
• Prepare annual financial statements in conformity with generally accepted accounting practice and appropriate international accounting standards
• Keep custody of the General Ledger, ensuring integrity of the University's financial information and maintaining internal controls
• Oversee accounting functions undertaken at all units with limited financial and operational autonomy
• Ensure integrity of the financial system by overseeing all matters pertaining to the recording and reporting of financial transactions
• Conduct monthly reconciliation of Bank and General Ledger balances
• Manage the treasury function and develop cash flow forecast schedules
• Manage Student Accounts, Non-Current Assets, Accounts Payable and Receivables
• Liaise between the Finance Directorate and Internal and External Auditors
• Discharge other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance
