Position Overview
The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Dean, School of Biological Sciences, College of Basic and Applied Sciences. This is a full-time position based in Accra, Ghana, effective from 1st August 2025.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Provost, College of Basic and Applied Sciences.

The College of Basic and Applied Sciences advances the objectives of its constituent units through:
- Developing world-class scientists to meet national and global developmental needs through quality teaching, learning, research, innovation and extension
- Enhancing staff capacity through systematic staff development programmes
- Enhancing research capabilities of staff for increased output in teaching and publications

About the School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences comprises five departments:
- Department of Animal Biology and Conservation Science
- Department of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology
- Department of Plant and Environmental Biology
- Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences
- Department of Nutrition and Food Science
Key Responsibilities
The Dean is responsible for:
- Providing leadership to the School and maintaining efficiency and good order in accordance with University policies, procedures, and applicable statutes
- Ensuring compliance with directives from the Council, Academic Board, and School Management Committee
- Ensuring that approved programmes and functions of the School are duly carried out by members of the School
