Role Overview
ActionAid Ghana (AAG) is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Accountant to provide comprehensive accounting services to the Bono Ahafo Regional Programme. This position supports regional financial management processes and ensures compliance with organizational policies.
Job Purpose
The Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of regional office finances and will support partners in the region to establish effective financial management systems that enhance accountability. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across all regional operations and implemented projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial operations of the regional office
- Review payment requests and supporting documents, making recommendations for approval
- Review cost classification for transactions in SUN 6.4 to ensure alignment with approved classifications and budgets
- Perform monthly reconciliations to identify and correct errors and omissions, ensuring data completeness and accuracy
- Prepare timely monthly and quarterly financial reports to management to support decision-making
- Support audit of regional programmes and follow up on implementation of audit recommendations
- Review staff float retirements and post transactions in accordance with approved budget lines
- Compile overdue float reports for Project Manager approval for salary deductions in accordance with LFPPM
- Oversee overall financial management of projects implemented in the region
- Support partner organizations in establishing effective financial management systems
Required Qualifications
- Proven accounting experience
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented approach to work
- Strong understanding of financial management systems and processes
- Proficiency with accounting software (including SUN 6.4)
- Knowledge of audit processes and compliance requirements
