Position Overview
The Council of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Role and Responsibilities
The Vice-Chancellor, under the direction of the University Council, serves as the Academic and Administrative Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and promoting good order and efficiency of the University
- Serving as Chief Executive Officer of the University
- Managing all functions as prescribed by the statutes of the University
- Reporting to the University Council on institutional performance and development
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Hold the rank of Professor with international scholarly acclaim
- Demonstrate exceptional integrity, maturity, and exemplary leadership skills
- Possess proven capacity to manage a university effectively
- Be able to serve a full 4-year term before reaching the compulsory retiring age of 60
- Have capacity to marshal resources needed to carry out the University's mission and vision

Tenure
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of 4 years. The appointment may be renewed for a further term of up to 3 years.
