## Title: Vice-Chancellor, University of Cape Coast

Position Overview

The Council of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Role and Responsibilities

The Vice-Chancellor, under the direction of the University Council, serves as the Academic and Administrative Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and is responsible to the University Council for:

  • Maintaining and promoting good order and efficiency of the University
  • Managing the overall operations of the University
  • Providing strong visionary leadership and driving innovation
  • Fostering and promoting good internal and external relations
  • Projecting the image of the University internally and externally
  • Marshaling resources needed to carry out the University's mission and vision
  • Other functions as prescribed by the statutes of the University

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Professor with international scholarly acclaim
  • Individual of stature and integrity with exemplary leadership skills
  • Proven capacity to manage a University
  • Visionary and business-oriented mindset
  • Ability to establish rapport between industry and the University
  • Maturity and demonstrated capacity for strong visionary leadership and innovation
  • Ability to serve a full 4-year term before attaining the compulsory retiring age of 60

Tenure

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of 4 years. The appointment may be renewed for a further term of up to 3 years.
