Position Overview
The Council of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Role and Responsibilities
The Vice-Chancellor, under the direction of the University Council, serves as the Academic and Administrative Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and is responsible to the University Council for:
- Maintaining and promoting good order and efficiency of the University
- Managing the overall operations of the University
- Providing strong visionary leadership and driving innovation
- Fostering and promoting good internal and external relations
- Projecting the image of the University internally and externally
- Marshaling resources needed to carry out the University's mission and vision
- Other functions as prescribed by the statutes of the University
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Professor with international scholarly acclaim
- Individual of stature and integrity with exemplary leadership skills
- Proven capacity to manage a University
- Visionary and business-oriented mindset
- Ability to establish rapport between industry and the University
- Maturity and demonstrated capacity for strong visionary leadership and innovation
- Ability to serve a full 4-year term before attaining the compulsory retiring age of 60
Tenure
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of 4 years. The appointment may be renewed for a further term of up to 3 years.
