Senior Tutor for Graduate Hostel (VALCO) at University of Ghana

About the Role

The University of Ghana Enterprises Limited (UGEL) is seeking a Senior Tutor for the Graduate Hostel (VALCO). This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead and manage the educational, welfare, and disciplinary aspects of the hall while fostering a supportive community environment for graduate students.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Chairman and convenor of the Tutorial Board
• Plan and evaluate the educational, counseling, and disciplinary work of the Hall
• Promote active student participation in University Community activities and sports to develop well-rounded individuals
• Brief, advise, and guide Floor Tutors on job expectations and performance; evaluate performance and make recommendations regarding re-appointment or termination
• Instruct and discipline Junior Members of the Hall in accordance with University Statutes and UGEL policies
• Support student safety and welfare, including crisis intervention, conflict mediation, and providing referrals for students in need
• Assist in allocating beds to students during the academic year
• Ensure efficient operation of the Porters Lodge and oversee other hall welfare duties as determined by UGEL
• Attend Management, Board, and other meetings as requested by the Board

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent
• High moral standing
• Experience in student welfare management (advantageous)
