Senior Tutor for Graduate Hostel (VALCO) at University of Ghana

About the Position

The University of Ghana Enterprises Ltd (UGEL) invites applications for the position of Senior Tutor for the Graduate Hostel (VALCO). This is a full-time administrative role responsible for the overall management and welfare of graduate students residing in the hostel.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Chairman and convenor of the Tutorial Board
• Plan and evaluate the educational, counseling, and disciplinary work of the Hall
• Promote active student participation in University Community activities and sports to develop well-rounded individuals
• Brief, advise, and guide Floor Tutors on job expectations and performance; evaluate their performance and make recommendations regarding re-appointment or termination
• Instruct and discipline Junior Members of the Hall in accordance with University Statutes and UGEL policies
• Assist in promoting the safety and welfare of all students residing in the Hall, including crisis intervention, conflict mediation, and providing support and referrals
• Assist the General Manager with bed allocation to students during the academic year
• Ensure efficient operation of the Porters Lodge and oversee welfare and duties of Hall Staff as determined by UGEL
• Attend Management Board meetings and other meetings as requested

Required Qualifications

• Minimum rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent
• High moral standing and integrity
• Experience in student welfare (advantageous)
