Position Overview
University of Media Arts and Communication (UniMAC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Rector, Institute of Journalism (IJ).
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Vice-Chancellor, UniMAC
Job Summary
The Rector shall be the administrative and academic head of the Institute of Journalism, responsible for providing leadership and maintaining the efficiency and good order of the institute in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Institute of Journalism and maintain its efficiency and good order in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the Act, statutes, and decisions of the University Council, Academic Board, Executive Management Board, and Institute Board
- Exercise general authority over students in the Institute of Journalism
- Coordinate and implement programmes for the Institute of Journalism
- Advise the Institute Board and University Council through the Vice-Chancellor on all matters relating to institute management
- Oversee the preparation of annual estimates of income and expenditure and manage the budget and resources of the Institute
- Ensure implementation of decisions of the University Council
- Organize and conduct the academic, financial, and administrative business of the Institute of Journalism in accordance with statutes and decisions of relevant university bodies
- Advise the University Council and Management Board on matters affecting policy, finance, governance, and administration of the Institute
