## Title: Occupational Health and Safety Officer
About the Company
Miro Forestry Ghana Limited is a sustainable forestry plantation developer and manufacturer of timber products. The company is located in Drobonso, Sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with plantations near Agogo and Mampong.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join our team. This is a full-time position based in Kumasi, Ghana.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop an occupational health and safety management plan (OHSMP)
- Actively work towards the company's achievement of FSC certification
- Establish and maintain health and safety management systems
- Manage incident, accident, and near-miss reporting and investigations
- Oversee road safety management
- Ensure full compliance with International Labour Organisation (ILO) guidelines
- Engage regularly with relevant stakeholders and conduct employee training on OHS issues
- Provide management and leadership in occupational health and safety matters
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Forestry Management, Safety Management, or a related field
- Master's degree (preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification work experience in a similar role and industry
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards
- Knowledge of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Guidance Notes and Performance Standards
- Familiarity with international health and safety best practices and relevant enactments
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Self-motivated with strong team orientation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to responsible forest stewardship
- Dynamic and responsible approach to health and safety management
