## Title: Medical Officer, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn & Adolescent Health

Position Overview

The RMNCAHA Programme supports Member States in the WHO African Region in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating policies, strategies, guidelines, and plans for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, as well as the health and wellbeing of older people. The programme aims to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including family planning, and to promote healthy ageing towards the attainment of Universal Health Coverage in the WHO African Region.

Programme Framework

The position operates within the framework of the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health (GSWCAH) 2016-2030 and the Decade of Healthy Ageing 2016-2030.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Member States to develop robust policies, strategies, guidelines, and plans aimed at reducing maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent mortality
  • Promote health and wellbeing of older persons guided by WHO recommended norms and standards
  • Provide technical assistance for building Member State capacity in implementing national policies for improving maternal, neonatal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and wellbeing
  • Increase access to sexual and reproductive health services and healthy ageing services
  • Support countries in conducting social mobilization activities
  • Define and advance the regional RMNCAHA research and innovations agenda to generate evidence
  • Strengthen RMNCAHA strategic information systems in countries for surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Conduct high-level advocacy
  • Strengthen partnerships through convening and coordination of key partners and stakeholders
