Lecturers / Research Fellows at National College of Defence Studies (NCDS)

Main Function

The Lecturer / Research Fellow will teach, conduct basic and applied research, supervise student dissertations, and perform academic assessment and administrative duties.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum PhD degree in political science or equivalent international qualification
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience with demonstrated teaching, research, and publication records
• Minimum of 5 peer-reviewed publications
• Computer literacy and demonstrable knowledge of research-related software packages

Key Responsibilities

• Teach at least 3 of the College's courses
• Design and develop the college's core training and academic courses
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the classroom and public presentations, including seminars and conferences
• Supervise students in class daily and evaluate student assignments, term papers, and dissertations
• Develop and implement innovative teaching methods, guidance, and mentorship strategies
• Participate in curriculum development for new courses, programmes, or training manuals
• Actively undertake research and publish at least one article per year
• Generate at least three knowledge products annually in the form of journal articles, book chapters, occasional papers, or books
• Develop proposals for major research projects that contribute to new knowledge, theory, or concepts with policy relevance
• Support other relevant college initiatives as needed
