About the Position

Presbyterian Women's College of Education, Aburi is seeking to recruit an Internal Auditor. This position serves as Head of the College's Internal Audit Unit.

Job Summary

The Internal Auditor provides independent, objective and consulting services designed to add value and improve the college's operations. The role employs a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve risk management, control and governance processes across the institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee the operations of an efficient and effective internal financial control system
• Review all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with laid-down internal control systems and statutory requirements
• Assess asset accountability and safeguard against losses
• Monitor and ensure that expenditures are authorized and within budgetary provisions
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure appropriate actions are taken on reported audit findings
• Alert the Principal and Finance Officer to system deficiencies with recommendations for remedies
• Conduct special reviews of accounting and internal control systems to minimize weaknesses
• Perform other official functions as assigned by the governing council or delegated by the Principal

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree (first class or upper second class) and Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Professional qualification in a relevant field and current membership in a relevant professional body
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Deputy Internal Auditor in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization
