Head of Underwriting – Life Insurance at Reputable Company

About the Role

A life insurance company is seeking a highly experienced and result-driven professional to fill the position of Head of Underwriting – Life. You will lead a dynamic underwriting department and drive strategic initiatives to enhance risk assessment and policy issuance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the underwriting department to ensure effective risk assessment and policy issuance in line with company standards
• Evaluate and approve all insurance applications
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks
• Provide training, guidance, and performance management to the underwriting team
• Collaborate with actuaries and sales teams to enhance underwriting processes and support business growth
• Monitor industry trends and recommend improvements to underwriting strategies and practices

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or related field
• Relevant professional certification is an added advantage
• Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in life insurance underwriting
• At least 4 years in a managerial or leadership role
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities
