Position Overview

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, result-driven, competent, and dynamic professionals to fill the vacant position of Accountant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare Statements of Accounts for Advertisement Clients
• Receive, maintain custody of, and effect payments from consolidated and other public funds
• Initiate the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
• Implement approved accounting and financial policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and work plans to achieve Agency objectives
• Identify control risk measures in financial transactions and procedures, and propose improvements to Assistant Manager for implementation
• Vet payment vouchers, invoices, and process through the General Ledger for approval and payment
• Reconcile balance sheet items and General Ledger for Manager review
• Maintain and update data and records in approved Accounting Software for all payment vouchers and journals
• Maintain and update records of all accounting transactions across all accounts
• Prepare variance analysis of revenue and expenditure against budget and report deviations for corrective action
• Maintain and update the Fixed Assets Register for the institution
• Collate budget inputs from all Departments for the institution's annual budget preparation
• Process employee benefits entitlements in line with approved conditions of service
• Process monthly payroll for all staff for approval and payment
• Review monthly payroll reports to identify and address inconsistencies
• Lead the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements
• Liaise with approved Banks and Third Parties to ensure prompt resolution of financial transaction issues
