About Our Africa Operations

Newmont's Africa Operations manages two gold mining operations in Ghana:

• Ahafo Mine (located in the Brong-Ahafo region)
• Akyem Mine (located in the Eastern region)

Our operations also include near-mine exploration and development focus in Ghana to annually replace gold reserves, as well as early-stage exploration programs in Ethiopia and Morocco.

Africa operations employ approximately 5,900 employees and contractors, with the majority working at the Ahafo Mine. We maintain high standards in environmental management, health and safety, and community development.

Community Development Commitment

Both Akyem and Ahafo mines have established Development Funds in their operational areas. Each mine contributes US$1 per ounce of gold sold and 1% of net pre-tax annual profit into its community development fund to support sustainable community development in host communities.

About This Role

The Geotechnical & Hydrogeological Engineer III will provide mining operation geotechnical engineering and hydrological support related to the design and construction of key features within the mine.
