About the Organization

Tetra Tech ARD is implementing the Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity (GFRA), an initiative designed to prevent the collapse of the small pelagic fishery sector in Ghana while improving supplemental livelihoods, resilience, and food security for coastal communities.

Project Overview

The Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity (GFRA) operates across all four coastal regions of Ghana, with particular emphasis on ten key sites: Half Assini, Axim, Sekondi, Shama, Elmina, Mumford, Azizanya, Tema, Denu, and Keta.

The project's core objectives include:

• Improving supplemental livelihoods and resilience measures for fishing communities, particularly for women and youth
• Facilitating private sector engagement and market linkages in the fishing sector
• Strengthening government capacity in policymaking, regulation, and enforcement
• Strengthening improved science and research, including data for policy and management decisions
• Empowering key stakeholders to effect change

Position Summary

The Fisheries Officer will support the implementation of GFRA and GFRA partner activities related to fisheries, with particular focus on fisheries management interventions, co-management approaches, and building capacity to apply scientific information in support of fisheries management.
