About the Position

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, result-driven, competent, and dynamic professionals to fill the position of Editor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop story and content ideas, considering the Agency's mandate and public interest
• Plan and process information in line with the Agency's style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements
• Conduct interviews, investigate, and follow up on events to produce truthful, fair, and accurate news reports
• Cover assignments and write stories and feature articles in clear and concise form for publication
• Ensure subscribers receive timely, relevant, high-quality content and stories in the public interest
• Conduct live reports from the scene and undertake specialized field and project assignments
• Research background of stories and produce comprehensive and accurate information for news features, documentaries, and special reports
• Establish and maintain relationships with credible sources of information to ensure the flow of news in the national interest
• Investigate breaking news, including disasters, crimes, and human-interest stories
• Edit news stories and verify facts, legal compliance, names, and titles of newsmakers to ensure high-quality news reports and feature articles that conform to GNA's house style, vision, and mission
• Rewrite stories by reporters when necessary to meet editorial and professional standards
• Plan daily assignments for reporters
• Brief reporters before sending them out on assignments

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field
