Director of Finance at University of Ghana

Position Overview

The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director of Finance. This is a full-time role reporting to the Vice-Chancellor.

Position Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial strategy and management of the University's finances. The Director shall maintain the integrity and consolidate ongoing financial reforms in the University anchored on fiscal discipline within the framework of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), the Public Procurement Act, 2016 (Act 914) as amended, the Income Tax Act, 2015 (Act 896) as amended, various Financial Regulations and Professional Standards such as International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

Under the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Finance shall be responsible for the implementation of the mandate of the Finance Directorate as well as perform any other functions that the Council or the Vice-Chancellor may assign.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, policies and standards that relate to the financial administration of the University
• Initiate, update and maintain proper accounting systems and procedures for the University as may be approved by the Council
• Ensure the integrity of the financial systems of the University
• Prepare the annual operating budget of the University for approval by the Council
• Receive monies due to the University and make authorised payments on behalf of the University
• Prepare the Consolidated Financial Statements of the University
• Safeguard and ensure effective utilisation of the assets of the University
