About the School
University of Ghana Basic School was established as the University Primary School (UPS) in 1955 with an initial enrollment of 36 pupils. It moved to its present premises in 1958 as the Demonstration School. The Junior Secondary School was added in 1987 with an initial enrollment of 68. The school now has over 1,500 pupils across three departments: Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High School.
The Position
The Deputy Head will support the Head of School in the general administration, development, and growth of the school as a center of academic excellence. This role requires providing leadership and exercising initiative in managing an establishment with a growing student population in a competitive national environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist leadership in maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order on campus
- Support school operations and student management
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and strategies
- Establish linkages within the University system and with the wider public
Required Qualifications
- Very good first degree in a relevant discipline
- Master's degree in Education (M.Ed.) in a relevant field (preferably Educational Administration, Educational Administration and Management, Educational Leadership and Management, or Educational Measurement and Evaluation)
- Teaching qualification with rank of at least Principal Teacher
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience
