Position Overview
The College Librarian provides leadership in advancing the college's teaching and research mission through a clear vision for the library's role, comprehensive strategic planning, incorporation of emerging technology, sound fiscal management, and engagement of all members in the college community.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the professional and administrative head of the college library
- Establish and maintain procedures, policies, and systems that ensure efficient library operation
- Provide adequate, relevant, and up-to-date reading and audio-visual materials to support the college's teaching, research, and community service functions
- Collaborate with relevant institutional libraries and organizations to keep abreast of development trends and gain exposure to advanced systems
- Exercise professional and administrative supervision over library staff to ensure efficient functioning
- Maintain a conducive environment for reading and learning in the library
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Postgraduate degree in library and information science or related field
- Experience serving as Deputy Librarian in a College of Education or comparable position in a similar institution
