Position Overview

The Internal Auditor serves as the head of the college's internal audit unit and is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective internal financial control system.

Key Responsibilities

• Vet all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with laid-down internal control systems and statutory requirements
• Assess the extent to which assets are accounted for and safeguard against losses
• Monitor and ensure that expenditures incurred have been authorized and are within budgetary provisions
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure that appropriate actions are taken on reported audit findings
• Draw the attention of the Principal and Finance Officer to deficiencies in the system with recommendations for remedies
• Discharge other assignments as deemed necessary by the Principal

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Professional qualification in a relevant field and membership in a relevant professional body
• Membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Deputy Internal Auditor in a College of Education or comparable grade in a similar institution or organization
