Position Overview
Chemonics seeks a Deputy Chief of Party - Operations (DCOPO) for the USAID Strengthening Regional Peace and Stability in West Africa Program. This position is based in Accra, Ghana.
The project aims to provide technical services to assist USAID/West Africa Regional Peace and Governance Office (RPGO) in supporting West African efforts to address risks of instability from democratic backsliding and conflict. The program prioritizes targeted conflict and violence prevention, peacebuilding, and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) interventions across the sub-region.
Responsibilities
The Deputy Chief of Party - Operations will manage day-to-day operations and administration across offices in Ghana, Mauritania, and Nigeria, as well as field presence of program implementation units. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise program facilities including office space, equipment, and program vehicles
- Oversee administration, logistics, procurement, budgeting, and financial accounting
- Ensure program implementation complies with USAID regulations, procedures, and scope of work specifications
- Monitor grantee qualifications and capabilities
- Ensure all procurement processes are transparent and perceived as fair by beneficiary communities
- Review financial management and monitor grant implementation
- Maintain strong grasp of the program and support the Chief of Party and program staff as needed
- Stay informed of local political developments and their implications for program implementation
